The Museum of Art and History of Narbonne, the city's main museum, takes place in the Palace of Archbishops of Narbonne and presents collections of fine arts and decorative arts. He is particularly known for his collections of ancient earthenware and his remarkable set of orientalist paintings. Together with the Narbonne Archaeological Museum, it is one of the two main museums in Narbonne. Its collections did not come from a pre-existing fund, but were formed from 1833 by purchases, donations, bequests and deposits.
