collégiale Notre-Dame de Montataire
The former Collège Notre-Dame is a Catholic church located in Montataire, in the heart of Creil, in the Oise department, France. It was built at the end of the 12th century as a collegiate body of the lord of Montataire, and was originally a dependency of the castle. The nave and the coasts remain of this time.
Between about 1225 and 1230, new Gothic portals were set up in front of the façade and the third span of the south side, and both sides were arched with warheads. The vaulting of the nave is initiated, but is finally postponed and will never succeed. Between 1250 and 1260, the primitive choir was replaced by a vast and radiant Gothic choir, which could be considered one of the main achievements of that period in the surrounding area, with Agnetz and Chambly.
While the plan has many irregularities and lacks symmetry, the building seduces with its elegance, lightness, brightness, quality of the sculpture of its capitals and its neat decoration. The college passed through the centuries without suffering destruction during the various wars. This is apparently not the case of the former parish church Saint-Léonard, which...
