Cathedral
cathédrale Notre-Dame de Senlis
Notre Dame de Senlis Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral of Gothic architecture. It is a monument located in the Oise department in Senlis (France). The cathedral was the seat of the former bishopric of Senlis, abolished by the Concordat of 1801.
His territory was then gathered in the diocese of Beauvais. It is quite small in size (total outer length: 76 meters – barely more than Beauvais: 72 meters), and is one of the first Gothic monuments in the country. With its portal of the crowning of the Virgin, masterpiece of the Gothic sculpture of the twelfth century, its remarkable south tower, masterpiece of Gothic architecture of the thirteenth century, its facades of the transept, both masterpieces of the Gothic finishing, Our Lady of Senlis takes place among the most beautiful cathedrals in France.
Today it is in the centre of the parish of Saint-Rieul de Senlis.
