About

The church Our Lady of Dijon, considered a masterpiece of Gothic architecture of the 13th century, is located in the heart of the 97 hectares of the protected area of Dijon, registered since 4 July 2015 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It rises Place Notre-Dame, close to the Palais des Ducs and the states of Burgundy and opposite the Rue Musette. It is estimated that the current building was built from the 1220s to about 1250s.

This church houses the statue of Our Lady of Good Hope, formerly called the Black Virgin. It also features two symbols of the city of Dijon: the Jacquemart and the owl. The church was classified as historical monuments by the list of 1840.

The chapel of the Assumption, the sacristy and the gallery linking them to the church have been listed as historical monuments since 5 July 2002.
