Terra Amata () is a prehistoric open-air site located on the slopes of Mount Boron in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), 26 m above the current sea level. Dated about 400,000 years before the present (AP), it delivered lithic tools of the Acheulean type, as well as one of the oldest indisputable homes in Europe. The Terra Amata site is one of the few sites in Europe to date the onset of domestication of fire around 400,000 years before the present.
