About

Nice Castle (Lou castèu de Nissa en Niçois) was a fortified building with a military vocation, present from the 11th to the 18th century on a rocky hill overlooking Nice Bay. After having received several seats, notably in 1543 and 1691, he was taken in 1705 by the French troops and destroyed in 1706 by order of Louis XIV. The place is now known as a park and garden, a place very frequented by the inhabitants and a must place for many tourists.

Its many panoramas are varied regardless of the location where one is located on the hill, whether it is at sunrise on the port side of Nice and until its sunset on the promenade of the English. The site is also very popular with photographers for the panoramic and diving views of the Old Nice, the Bay of Angels and the promenade des Anglais. Every day a "gun shot" is fired, in reality a brown of pyrotechnic air, signaling noon in the vicinity.
