About

Saint-Caprais-et-Saint-Vincent Church is a parish Catholic church located in Auger-Saint-Vincent, Oise, France. Its origins date back at least to the years 930 / 940, when Raoul II of Vexin gave the patronage of the cure to the priory Saint-Arnoul of Crépy-en-Valois. A small Romanesque church was built in the first quarter of the 12th century, and elements of its nave and choir were included in the current construction.

From the middle of the 12th century until the beginning of the 13th century, then at the end of the 15th century and in the middle of the 16th century, the church was enlarged six times, and in most cases the additions covered only one span, so that the present building was of disconcerting complexity. Outside, however, it offers a fairly harmonious image, since the various construction campaigns are mostly very close, so that the too obvious stylistic breaks are avoided. The bell tower of the middle of the 12th century is imposing, with an elegant stone arrow.

Inside, the church also has a real interest, and surprises by its spatial uniqueness, which was obtained at the expense of its architectural uniqueness...
