statue équestre de Bertrand du Guesclin
The statue of the Guesclin, or originally A Companion of Duguesclin in Cocherel: B. Goyer de Matignon, is an equestrian statue located in Caen, in the Norman department of Calvados, France. Directed by Arthur Le Duc in the 1910s, she represents a knight on her mount, identified at least since the 1920s as Bertrand du Guesclin. The sculptor, known for his talent as an animal sculptor, offers here a work celebrating the horse and the movement, in a careful reconstruction of a scene of the Middle Ages, period of preference of Arthur Le Duc.
