The statue of Louis XIV located in Caen, Calvados department, Normandy (France), is a work by the sculptor Louis Petitot, who is part of the neo-classical current. It was established in 1828 to show the city's loyalty to the new regime in the context of the Restoration. It replaces a previous statue of Louis XIV, erected in the 17th century on Place Royale and destroyed during the French Revolution.
