chapelle Saint-Aubin de Chambly
History: Originally, the Priory called "Saint Aubin" was a simple chapel founded by the Counts of Beaumont. It was in 1123 that one of them, Mathieu I, presented the priory at Saint-Martin Abbey in Pontoise. Eudes, bishop of Beauvais, confirmed in 1142 the possession of the religious. The priory received many gifts that assured him great prosperity and Saint Louis in 1246 and Charles V in 1368 in turn confirmed the enjoyment of the places by the monks. In 1417, during the plundering of Chambly by the Bourguignons, the establishment could not rise and was transformed into a simple priory. From the reign of Henry III to Louis XIV, his properties were invaded by the neighboring lords and the buildings fell into ruin. In 1792 the building was acquired by M. de Sesseval, the grand vicar of Beauvais, who lived there until his death in 1806 (Graves 1842).
Today: Only the church choir remains. Its arch in broken cradle, Romanesque vault appeared at the beginning of the twelfth century. Outside, there is a beautiful cornice, typical of the 12th century, found in the Beauvais region...
