About

The Basilica Saint-Sauveur de Rennes is a minor basilica of the Catholic Church, known as Notre-Dame des Miracles et Vertus, located in the heart of the historic city centre of Rennes, in the French department of Ille-et-Vilaine in Brittany. Its foundation, under the name of Saint-Sauveur, predates the twelfth century. It was enlarged several times and rebuilt at the beginning of the 18th century, it was the seat of a parish for nearly three hundred years, until the Second World War, then again from 2002.

Following several events described as miraculous in the 14th and 18th centuries, the cult of Notre Dame developed strongly into an erection in the basilica in 1916. In classic style, this building is particularly distinguished by its furniture: the high altar's baldaquin, the wrought iron chair, the organ, and the many ex-votos deposited by the faithful.
