The Pierre-André-Benoit Library Museum is a modern and contemporary art museum located in Alès. Located in a neo-classical building, the Château de Rochebelle, it is labeled museum of France.
Place:The castle of Rochebelle== Rochebelle's property has been known since the Middle Ages, first known as Brouzenc. It is only around 1700 that one finds in an act "Bruzenc estate called Rochebelle".
In 1758 it was described as follows: "The Rochebelle estate consists of a large square house, composed of several apartments, courtyard, shed, kennel, chapel, with a floor or gallery in the front. »
Over the centuries, the estate passed into the hands of various owners, including François-Pierre de Tubeuf, a concessionaire of the Rochebelle mines, who acquired it in 1790. The monogram of this family is located on the balcony grid of the main façade. Monsieur de Tubeuf gave him, at the end of the 18th century, the look and neo-classical style that we know him today.
