About

The memorial of the landing and liberation of Provence, or more familiarly the memorial of Mont-Faron, is located on the northern heights of Toulon, on Mount Faron in the Var (France). Owned by the State, the memorial of Mount Faron is dedicated to the allied landing of 15 August 1944 and to the liberation of Provence: Operation Anvil-Dragoon which allowed the Allies to dispose of the ports of Toulon and Marseille, to liberate the Rhodoan axis, and thus to accelerate the liberation of the territory and their progression towards Germany. The memorial highlights the inescapable role of French troops in these historical events, which were of crucial importance to the destiny of France after the war.
