The departmental museum of Var is a natural history museum located in Toulon, in the Jardin des Plantes du Var. In French law the departmental museum of Var is both a "public institution" and a "public institution" (ERP). Depending on the Conseil départemental du Var, it is classified as "Museum de France" and its collections, composed in part of protected species (fauna and flora), are governed by the Nature Protection Act 1976.
