chapelle Notre-Dame d'Armieux de La Rivière
The Notre-Dame-d'Armieu chapel, also spelled chapel Notre-Dame-d'Armieux, is an ancient chapel located on the territory of the commune of La Rivière, bordering that of Saint-Gervais in the department of Isère. It was totally destroyed during the collapse of July 25, 2024.
Location: The chapel was located near a quarry, on the hillside of Artets, at the southern end of the territory of the commune of La Rivière, on the border of the commune of Saint-Gervais, on the left bank of the Isère and on the edge of the old national road 532, which became the departmental road RD 1532 which connects the Grenobloise agglomeration to Romans-sur-Isère.
This chapel, which includes a simple oratory, was presented in the form of a very modest building, of simple architecture and situated on a flat of a mountainous slope. It housed a statue of the Virgin Mary.
