About

The Grand Parc Miribel Jonage is a park in the Lyon agglomeration covering nearly 2,200 hectares on the outskirts of Lyon. It corresponds to an area of the old major bed of the Rhone, transformed by developments from the mid-19th century. On the one hand, the park is a place of leisure for the inhabitants of Greater Lyon and those of the Côte de l'Ain and on the other hand, a zone for the protection of fauna and flora: The island of Miribel Jonage (the park occupies 22 of the 28.49 km2 of this island) is Natura 2000 zone and Blue Waters Lake constitutes a Type II ZNIEFF. The action of the Grand Parc is based on its four solar vocations: the preservation of the drinking water resource, the promotion of the flood control area, the preservation and enhancement of the natural heritage (with for example the Grands Vernes), and the development of outdoor recreation.
