église Saint-Martin de Plailly
Saint Martin Church is a parish Catholic church located in Plailly, France. Built during the 1160s and 1170s in the primitive Gothic style, it received at the beginning of the century a new chorus of pre-recording style, the three spans of which formed a transversal vessel of the same height. In both cases, the Church of Saint Martin is at the forefront of the innovative movements of the architecture of its time, and, as some analogies indicate, draws its influences from the construction sites of Notre-Dame de Senlis and Notre-Dame de Paris cathedrals.
The nave intended to remain covered by a simple frame is characterized by large broken arcades falling back on the remarkable capitals of large isolated cylindrical pillars. In the choir, three similar pillars are used to support the supports of the higher order, in the form of bundles of columns. This superposition is an original and elegant solution characterizing Plailly's choir, as well as the vast well-lit space of the transverse ship, contrasting with the constant darkness reigning in the nave.
