église Saint-Martin de Mareil-en-France
Saint Martin Church is a parish Catholic church located in Mareil-en-France, France. From the outside, only the bell tower and the western facade of the mid-19th century are visible from the public domain, and without interest. All the rest of the church was built during a single construction campaign at the beginning of the last quarter of the sixteenth century, and seduced by the homogeneity and quality of its Renaissance architecture.
The order and monumental sculpture bear the artistic signature of master mason Nicolas de Saint-Michel, of Luzarches, and show a striking resemblance to Saint Martin's church in Attainville. Like all other churches built by the same architect, the vaulting of warheads and the general arrangement are inherited from Gothic architecture, but if one looks only at the supports, one might believe oneself in an ancient building. What distinguishes the church of Mareil-en-France is its exceptional plan with complete walk-through, without radiant chapels, but with a thread of shallow chapels all around the church, thanks to foothills facing inward.
As the only drawback, the apse is insufficient...
