église Saint-Thomas-Becket de Villiers-le-Sec
Saint-Thomas-Becket or Saint-Thomas de Cantorbéry is a Catholic parish church located in Villiers-le-Sec, Val-d'Oise, France. It is a small Renaissance building, dedicated in 1558. From the street, one sees his blind bedside; and the north elevation, transformed during an old repair, as well as the facade and bell tower without any style, are not very engaging.
Only the cornice to the south still shows that the finishes were originally neat. The interior reveals a quality construction, still marked by the flamboyant Gothic influence, especially as regards vaults. On the other hand, the pillars with their capitals refer to the ancient models, and curiously enough, the three main orders (doric, ionic and Corinthian) are present on the single level of elevation.
The church is also interesting for its double-nave plan, very rare in the region despite its simplicity. Its inscription in historical monuments was made by an order of 16 February 1970.
