About

The Saint Martin Church is a parish Catholic church located in Vallangoujard, Val-d'Oise, France. Located on a rocky spur in the centre of the village, at the crossroads of departmental roads 927 and 64, it dominates the Sausseron valley. The building of the second half of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th century consists of a nave of two spans; the base of the bell tower; and a flat bedside choir.

The only south side was rebuilt in the 18th century. Outside, the 13th century Gothic portal is remarkable, and the northern elevation of the nave remains very close to its original state. It is supported by buttresses of the primitive Gothic style, and oculi stand as high windows.

The comparison of this elevation with the interior space, where each span has large arcades despite the absence of a lower side to the north, raises the question of the project of the beginning of the thirteenth century: either the implementation of the lower side was postponed to a later date, which explains the ordinary foothills for the time; either the lowlands were to be built to the economy, like the lower side of the eighteenth century.
