About

Saint-Brice Church is a parish Catholic church located in Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt, Val-d'Oise. The foundation of the parish dates back to the beginning of the 12th century, and it is in the second half of the same century that the construction of the present church begins, with the central bell tower that remains to this day. It is primitive Gothic style.

In the second quarter of the 13th century, the church was completed by the arms of the transept and side chapels, which announced the radiant Gothic style. Only the north cruise has been preserved. The Gothic church had become too small at the beginning of the 16th century and its nave and choir were split by a long vessel of flamboyant Gothic style, accompanied by a collateral to the south.

This vast complex, signed in 1525, has completely disappeared. Indeed, the choir encroached on the rectified route of the royal road from Paris to Amiens, and its demolition was an opportunity for the inhabitants to decide on the construction of a new church. It was done in a short time from September 1778 to May 1780, which probably explained the rustic bill of the building, of which only the neo-classical facade overlooking the street was treated.
