About

Saint-Denis Church is a parish Catholic church located in Villers-sous-Saint-Leu, Oise department, France. The origins of the parish are lost in time. The present church dates back, in its oldest parts, to the second quarter of the 12th century, and to the end of the Romanesque period.

This is the nave, whose north and west elevations have not changed since, and the bell tower with its high stone arrow, unfortunately not visible. No element of Romanesque architecture is visible inside the church. The various enlargements and changes of the Gothic period make the church of Saint-Denis a particularly complex building.

The northern side chapel and portal date back to the late 12th century. The vaults of the nave and the choir date from the middle of the 13th century and display a gothic style radiating on a good level, except the arcades below the base of the bell tower, which are of a purely functional character. Also in the radiant period belong the southern lateral chapel and its former western gate, which later became the door of the sacristy.

We notice two elegant windows with elaborate networks...
