église Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité de Villaines-sous-Bois
Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativity Church is a parish Catholic church located in Villaines-sous-Bois, Val-d'Oise, France. The parish is attested from the middle of the 13th century, and from this time could date the bell tower, without any particular character. During the second half of the 16th century, the choir was rebuilt in a hesitant style between the flamboyant Gothic, for the profile of the veins of the vault and the use of the broken arch, and the Renaissance, for the pendant arch keys and capitals.
The choir has only one square span and is very low, but it is distinguished by its refined architecture, unsuspected for a tiny rural church. The nave is a simple rectangular room, which received its present form in the eighteenth century. The Church of the Nativity was listed as historical monuments in 1969.
It was subsequently restored and is now in a perfect state of conservation. Despite the small size of the village, it hosts early Sunday Masses every Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. They are celebrated according to the extraordinary form of the Latin rite.
