About

Saint-Crépin-Saint-Crépinien Church is a parish Catholic church located in Bréançon, France. It was built successively between the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th century, beginning with the small square choir and the cross of the transept, at the same time base of the bell tower. These two spans contain high quality capitals, and illustrate the transition from Romanesque to Gothic architecture.

The transept is also interesting for unusual scheduling of vault supports. The nave and its sides were built shortly after the eastern parts, although the exterior aspect suggests a neo-classical construction: in fact, the facade and the walls of the lower sides were rebuilt in 1774, and the nave was adapted somewhat to the taste of the time, but the large arcades and Gothic vaults were preserved. The belfry floor of the 13th century central bell tower had disappeared in the 19th century.
