Saint-Caprais Church is a parish Catholic church located in Grisy-les-Plattres, in the Parc naturel régional du Vexin français in France. It is a modest rural church of primitive Gothic style. Built in the early 13th century in a single construction campaign, it has never undergone extensions or changes affecting its structure.
It has survived almost unharmed all wars, including the Hundred Years' War, during which most of the churches in the region were partially destroyed. The interior is more distinguished by its homogeneity and regularity of the plan than by the search for its architecture, which is of good taste but of great simplicity compared to other churches in the region of the same period. The exterior is dominated by the elegant bell tower, which seems of great lightness and marks the culmination of Gothic art in the Vexin.
In the 16th and 18th centuries, the bas-cotes and the southern crusillon were largely rebuilt without of course respecting the original style, but the vaults were nevertheless preserved in their entirety. The church is classified as a historical monument by order of May 9, 1914 and was almost...
