Le Creux de l'enfer is a contemporary art centre located in the factory valley in Thiers, in the department of Puy-de-Dôme, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Established in a former cutlery factory permanently closed in 1956, it is part of the policy of cultural decentralization initiated by Jack Lang in 1985. It was opened in 1988, three years after the national metal sculpture symposium organized by the city of Thiers.

It is one of the fifty centres of contemporary French art to be agreed by the Ministry of Culture. Its operation is modelled on the German model of Kunsthallen, places dedicated to contemporary art where artists are very involved. Le Creux de l'Hell devotes all its spaces to programming temporary exhibitions (renewed quarterly) and events, developed in close collaboration with guest artists.

Since October 2019, he has been awarded the label "Centre d'art contemporain d'intérêt national" and becomes the first centre of contemporary art labeled in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Since 2021, the Creux de l'Hell has benefited from the Use...
