About

The Church of St. John's Arc is a religious building located in the city of Le Mans, at the demarcation between the central sector and the south-west sector. It is a church that served as a hospital built in the 12th century.

It is known as the former hospital of Coëffort, the hospital of Coëffort and the church lazarists of the Mission. The building then finally took the name of Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc church in 1923 with the creation of the parish of the same name. Despite an unfriendly facade showing great irregularities, the church is one of the oldest buildings in the city still preserved today.

In addition, the interior reveals superb architectures. The church is known throughout the world for having been the place to find the treasure of Coëffort, judged as one if not the most beautiful set of medieval civil goldsmithy ever found in Europe. The building has been classified as historical monuments since October 20, 1947.
