The Hôtel-Dieu de Carpentras, built in the middle of the eighteenth century, was one of the hospitals in the capital of Comtat Venaissin. If he was not the first of Carpentras, he was the most imposing. Following five other hospitals whose operating times often overlapped, he was commissioned by Joseph-Dominique d'Inguimbert, dit dom Malachie, bishop of Carpentras, and his role for two centuries is not independent of the history of his predecessors.

It is both the successor and the outcome. Its construction began in 1750, and it was served, according to the bishop's will, by hospital sisters from 1764. His architect, Antoine d'Allemand, according to Dom Malachie's instructions, had built large and comfortable rooms and ensembles.

This option allowed, over the decades, either to restore or to adapt buildings and hospital services.
