église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montépilloy
Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church is a parish Catholic church located in Montépilloy, Oise department, France. It consists of a single vessel of four square spans, and ends with a flat bedside. Despite its apparent simplicity, the church is actually the result of three distinct construction campaigns.
The walls and side windows of the first three spans are of primitive Gothic style, dating from the late twelfth century. The gate, simple and refined at the same time, as well as the bundles of columns that support the vaults of the nave, are of late radiant style, and can be dated from the period between 1320 and 1340. Of their capitals, only portions of frieze remain between the top of the barrels.
The vaults are flamboyant Gothic style, and form an elegant ensemble. Like the windows of the last span, which display an elaborate network, they are dated from the beginning of the sixteenth century. Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church was listed as historic monuments by order of February 12, 1971 and is in a good condition of conservation.
